Himalaya Jeep Safari - Ladakh & Zanskar

Passing up the Suru Valley through Pensi la (which is open 3-4 months JULY-OCTOBER), one arrives in Zanskar. Over PensiLa is the 5,000 sq km vast expanse of concentrated mountains and long valleys of Zanskar, an ancient kingdom with a better preserved cultural entity Primarily Buddhist, Padum is a sub district head quarters with several accessible monasteries and 8th century rock edicts with significant carvings and inscriptions. Other places of interest in Zanskar are Karsha with its large and wealthy monastery and Zangla. Treks commence from here for Lamayuru and Hemis. Phugtal and Zongkhul are two famous cave monasteries in Zanskar. To savor a typical experience of western Ladakh, a trip to Sabku, Panikahar and Parkachik is a must.

Day 01 :: Delhi

Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel.

Day 02 :: Delhi-Leh (Flight)
Transfer to airport for flight to Leh. On arrival transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free for acclimatization. Overnight in hotel.

Day 03 :: Leh
Morning sight-seeing of Spituk and Phyang monasteries. Afternoon visit Leh monastery, Leh palace and Leh Bazaar. Overnight in hotel.

Day 04 :: Leh
Full day tour of Shey, Tiksey and Hemis monasteries. Overnight in hotel.

Day 05 :: Leh-Saspol (Jeep/62 kms)
Drive to Saspol. Afternoon sight-seeing of Alchi monasteries. Overnight in camp.

Day 06 :: Saspol-Kargil (Jeep/168 kms)
Drive to Kargil. En-route visit Lamayuru and Mulbekh monastery. Overnight in hotel.

Day 07 :: Kargil-Ringdom (Jeep/140 kms)
Drive to Ringdom. Visit Ringdom Monastery. Overnight in camp.

Day 08 :: Ringdom-Padum (Jeep/131 Kms)
Drive to Padum, the capital of Zanskar enroute visit Sani monastery. Overnight in camp.

Day 09 :: Padum
Sight-seeing of Padum and surroundings, visit Karsha, Pipi Tong and Stagnimo monasteries. Overnight in camp.

Day 10 :: Padum
Visit Bardan Gompa (2 hours trek one way). Overnight in camp.

Day 11 :: Padum-Kargil (Jeep)
Return drive to Kargil. Overnight in camp.

Day 12 :: Kargil-Srinagar (Jeep/204 kms)
Drive to Srinagar. Transfer to houseboat for overnight stay.

Day 13 :: Srinagar
Morning visit Mughal Garden, afternoon Shikara ride on the Dal Lake. Overnight on houseboat.

Day 14 :: Srinagar
Full day excursion to Gulmarg. Overnight on houseboat.

Day 15 :: Srinagar-Delhi (Flight)
Transfer to airport for flight to Delhi. On arrival transfer to hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight in hotel.

Day 16 :: Delhi
Morning full day sight-seeing tour of Old and New Delhi. Later transfer to airport for flight to onward destination.
